Sprint and Motorola will begin trials of a 3G data service using WiMax technology (also known as 802.16e). The trial will last through 2006. WiMax allows for very fast data transfer over long distances.
The collaboration will spur IEEE 802.16e (2.5GHz) technology development, validate vendor solutions and help formulate network architecture strategies.
